Lavender Vitality™ Essential Oil

Lavender Vitality contains antioxidants and may provide immune support when taken as a dietary supplement.*  It can also be added to foods and beverages giving a delicate, floral flavor that combines well with citrus and herbs.  From farms in the United States and France, Young Living sources our most popular product: Lavender essential oil.  The plant is part of the mint family, and the best-selling essential oil is extracted by steam distilling the flowering tops.  Perhaps part of the reason for Lavender’s popularity comes from its extensive history. Looking back to ancient Greece, a physician and botanist named Pedanius Dioscorides praised its many qualities and uses.  Today Lavender is a key ingredient in Young Living products such as SleepEssence™, Estro™, and our Seedlings® product line.

How to Use Lavender Essential Oil

Chances are Lavender Essential Oil was one of your gateway oils! If not, you may be wondering what to do with it. The good news is that Lavender is possibly the most versatile oil and most popular oil.

The Young Living Training and Education team shares their favorite uses of Lavender in this Facebook Live. You can use in your aromatherapy to help calm and relax just before bed. Add it to your skincare routine. Or use it to help freshen your linens in a homemade linen spray.

Vitality Oils Conversion Tip

There are so many wonderful recipes out there where you can easily substitute your Young Living Vitality Oils for the same fresh or dried ingredient; try it in some of your own favorites. There isn’t a hard rule for how to do this. All of our tastes in strength in flavor are different. When in doubt try less. You can always add more if you like.

When you are cooking with Vitality essential oils, keep in mind that essential oils are volatile.  This means that the oil molecules want to escape into the air; they will dissipate.  When you add heat to the equation, it makes them escape more quickly.  With certain protein-based dishes like chicken, I find that I get more flavor when I add the Vitality oils to the dishes when they are finished.  When I have something that I have to refrigerate, such as a fruit salad,  I’ll add the oil just before serving.  Experiment – see what works for you.

Here is a chart to help you with Vitality oil conversion.  Again, it is a guideline – flavor to your liking.

  • 1 Citrus Fruit, juiced = 10 to 15 Drops of a Vitality oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Herbs or Spices = 1 Drop or less of a Vitality oil.
  • 1 Teaspoon Herbs or Spices = Dip a toothpick in the Vitality oil. Swirl the toothpick through the wet ingredients and mix.

Lavender Hot Chocolate

This calming and relaxing treat is not only tasty, but full of antioxidants, healthy fats, and fiber. Cocoa is full of notable micronutrients-magnesium, potassium, Copper and maganese. 1 Tbl. of cocoa has 12.42 mg of caffeine, compared to a cup of coffee that contains 95 mg. For this recipe we use 8 Tbl. for four servings, making each serving 24.48 mg of caffeine per serving. Lavender Vitality supports general wellness, and contains cleansing and antioxidant properties. Not bad for a cup of hot chocolate!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of unsweetened almond milk or milk of your choice
  • 8 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 teaspoons honey or more to taste
  • 4 drops Lavender Vitality essential oil

Directions

  1. Heat 4 cups milk in a saucepan on medium-high heat.
  2. Add unsweetened cocoa, vanilla, and honey.
  3. Whisk until smooth.
  4. When warm, remove from heat and stir in Lavender Vitality
  5. Serve and Enjoy!
